Description

The need for a book on practicals in anatomy and physiology was felt a long back for the Pharmacy students and it was one of the first books in the subject designed for pharmacy students.
Although several books are available separately for the anatomy, histology and physiology, the vastness of the curriculum has made it increasingly difficult for the students to go though them within limited period over which their course extends. The present book is unique combination of human and anatomy, physiology practicals specially compiled for diploma and degree students of Pharmacy.
This book has four sections. In the first section various human physiology experiments have been discussed. Emphasis has been given on the clinical importance of each experiment. This helps not only in facing for viva voice during examination but also getting information which students should have after performing an experiment. Experiments on examination of blood film on malarial parasite. Pulse and ECG. recording etc. as per the syllabus in many Universities have also been added in this edition.
The sections second and third describe human anatomy and histology respectively. The utmost care has been taken to give simple but scientific diagrams. A brief description has been added with each figure. This helps as refresher while appearing for theory examination. The chapter on skeletal muscle has been increased substantially.
Fourth section encompasses simple experiments on frog gastrocnemius muscle and heart which are essential to understand the basic principles of muscle physiology. The presentation of this section is different than those seen in usual books. These experiments have been suspended but still give fair idea about muscle physiology.
This book is of immense value to the students of Pharmacy. It has also been observed that students of homoeopathy, nursing and veterinary have taken up this book as a text-book for anatomy, physiology practicals. This book is also hoped to have a place as a reference book for dental and medical students.
